Mountain Dreamin’ - For The Times When You Can’t Be In The Mountains (But Wish You Were)
Sometimes I paint things just because they’re beautiful—and honestly, that’s exactly why I painted this.
I feel most at home, most myself, when I’m tucked into the forest or wrapped in the quiet stillness of the mountains.
The mountains calm me…
… They open my heart…
They remind me who I am.
My home here in Gorham, Maine is stunning in its own right—perched on a hill, surrounded by green rolling fields, at the forest’s edge, even a tiny wetland that bursts into life with birds, bugs, and blooms each spring... and yet, it’s still not quite the mountains.
When I’m not nestled somewhere amongst those ridges, I feel that longing deep within my soul.
So, I painted this pretty lil’ thing as a gift to myself—a way to bring that sacred, peaceful, grounded mountain-energy into my daily life at home.
These particular ridges aren’t a specific place, they're deeply inspired by the gentle, time-worn beauty of the Appalachians — some of the oldest mountains on Earth… Mountains that have watched generations pass, softly shaped by glaciers, wind, rain, and the slow rhythms of nature.
They’re humble, wise, quietly powerful.
Not showy.
Just endlessly enduring.
I created this piece to hang in my own living room, above my TV…
… So I could get lost in a mountain sunset any time I needed to — even from a million miles away.
This painting is a beautiful blessing to my space… it helps me feel rooted, peaceful, and connected to something greater than myself, amid the daily chaos of dishes, diapers, and all the rest.
And now, I’m incredibly grateful to be able to share it with you.
So, whether you live among mountains, or miss them dearly (like I do every single day), my hope is that this painting brings calm, awe, and a sense of home and belonging into your space.
Let it be a blessing of peace for your home, as it is intended to be.
Let it serve as a daily reminder that even when wild places are far away, they still live inside you—always.
You are so deeply, eternally loved… the mountains told me so…
Stay feral, my sweeties.
XOXO,
Emily
